A performance by Greek Poet Phoebe Giannisi from her new collection, Goatsong, followed by a conversation with her translator, Brian Sneeden, hosted by Oxford Professor of Poetry, A. E. Stallings; co-organized with Modern Greek, in the Taylor Institution Main Hall. 

 

Constantine Cavafy: A New Biography

An in-conversation event with Gregory Jusdanis, co-author of Constantine Cavafy: A New Biograph (Gregory Jusdanis and Peter Jeffreys; Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2025). Dressing 'Greek': Clothing, Movement, and Performance from ancient to modern

A one-day interdisciplinary conference that will bring together participants from Classical Archaeology, Philology, Classical Reception, Ancient dance studies, English, Theatre History, Fashion History, and Gender studies. It will feature a live performance by Marie-Louise Crawley (Coventry) and an accompanying textile art exhibition by Carla Bocchetti (IFAS). Free and open to all; no registration is needed.

Akram Khan in conversation

Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, St Hilda’s. Dancer and choreographer Akram Khan will be in conversation with Marcus Bell (UCL); followed by drinks reception, co-organised with DANSOX. Further details to be confirmed.

 

Songs of Solidarity: Writers’ Room Workshop

15 to 17 December
Led by Dash Arts and PROJEKT EUROPA, in partnership with the APGRD and COMPAS, a three-day workshop will be held in the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, St Hilda’s to support the development of a new epic narrative through devised performance, drawing on Gilgamesh, Iliad, Kalevala and Ramayana.
